PT Social Media and Communications Specialist

Education Pioneers is a national nonprofit that recruits, develops, and connects professionals from diverse backgrounds with education roles to solve problems from outside of the classroom so students and teachers succeed inside of the classroom. We are seeking a part-time social media and communications specialist (about 10 hours a week) who will help implement our social media strategy and monitor national news about major stories in public education. This position will report to our Marketing Associate.
JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is a chance to make a difference on behalf of students by building awareness of Education Pioneers and highlighting the impact of our work with our target audiences. The work will focus on three main areas:
1. Posting on social media about Education and Leadership Sector News: Each day, you will search designated websites looking for major stories in education, including: diversity/social justice, especially related to children; recruitment and development of teachers, principals and other teams in education; and innovation and entrepreneurship in education. You will write and schedule social media posts about the major stories each day utilizing pre-designated hashtags. You also will help compile a bi-monthly newsletter to EP staff members including some of the major news stories from the past two weeks.
2. Promoting EP Original Content and Upcoming Events on Social Media: You will write and schedule social media posts about EP original blog content and major events going on with the organization (a calendar of these events will be provided).
3. Measuring What Matters: You will track the impact of your social media outreach by pulling data on EP’s social media networks and blog posts.
REQUIREMENTS: · Excellent writing and grammar skills · Experience with social media across different platforms · General understanding and interest in current events impacting K-12 public education · Embodies our core values of optimism, action, collaboration · The person in this position can live anywhere in the United States and must have reliable access to internet
